According to statistics of the
UNICEF more than
12 million children in sub Saharan Africa have been orphaned due to
HIV/AIDS and by
2010 this number will be over
43 million orphaned children, which is an overwhelming number that if left unattended to the entire generation will be wiped out.
Young children in
Zambia are orphaned two or three times as their parents die to be replaced by their grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives who also fall victim to the disease. This makes the children to grow up in an emotional and spiritual vacuum.
